About Colleen MacDonald
As an adventurer and ultra runner, Colleen is known for her unshakable grit and love of flying down technical descents. Specializing in racing 50 and 100-mile distance, Colleen spends as much time as possible training in the mountains. She has been an Ambassador with Arc’teryx since 2020, focusing on inspiring others to learn from failure and make the outdoors accessible for all- especially young women. When she is not training or crafting digital strategy, Colleen can be found adventuring with Brian (the boyfriend and fellow ultra runner) and Reign (the dog, also an adventurer and runner).
Chasing the FKT on Kilimanjaro’s Northern Route
Some dreams take root early. Mine started when my mom read me a story about Mount Kilimanjaro as a kid—and it stuck. This August, I’m chasing the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on Kilimanjaro’s Northern Route. It’s big, it’s bold, and it’s scary. But I believe in taking big swings.

Why Get Out and Give Back?
“When I was younger, my role model was Indianan Jones. I didn’t know of any women who were adventuring or pushing their limits – and believed the type of life I wanted to live and the things I wanted to try were off-limits. That I have the chance to help young women find badass female role models and experience tapping into their courage to try adventuring in the outdoors – it’s a dream come true. It is something I wish would have been available to me at a young age.”
