About Sophie Mariam
Sophie Mariam is a Colorado-based policy advocate, yogi, and outdoor enthusiast who believes deeply in the healing power of movement, nature, and community. By day, she works in policy issue-campaign organizing to help build a more just, equitable economy where women and caregivers can thrive and have a seat at the table in our democracy. Outside of work, she can usually be found trail running through the woods, teaching yoga (including free outdoor classes and retreats across Colorado), doodling and watercoloring, or generally frolicking somewhere in the mountains with good people. Rooted in tikkun olam and mindfulness science, Sophie is passionate about connecting with women and girls who see outdoor adventure as a powerful pathway back to their bodies, their strength, and the wild places around them.
Frolic More. Fear Less. Running Toward Wonder, Belonging & Wilderness Access for Women & Girls
This August, I’ll be running the Telluride Mountain Run through the San Juan Mountains of Colorado – a high-elevation, technical course that feels both deeply exciting and wildly humbling.
But this mountain race is going to be about more than endurance. It’s about reclaiming wonder through wild places and embracing adventure as a path back to ourselves.

Why Get Out and Give Back?
The idea of “giving back” through outdoor adventure resonates deeply with me because I’ve experienced how life-changing these spaces can be—and how inaccessible they often are.
In my work with She Blooms Wild, I see how many women are craving connection, rest, and time in nature, but face barriers like cost, transportation, or not feeling like they belong in outdoor spaces. Creating more equitable access to these experiences feels essential.
I’m also deeply motivated by the idea of representation and storytelling—of elevating women’s voices and making visible what’s possible. When women see others like them exploring, leading, and thriving in the outdoors, it expands their sense of what’s available to them.
