About Lucia Tonachel
Lucia Tonachel is a recent Anthropology graduate of Grinnell College. This summer you’ll find Lucia instructing Outward Bound courses on Hurricane Island, Maine. In the fall, she’ll be relocating to a new home base: Colorado.

To cap off a college career that’s included everything from study abroad in India to community service in Grinnell, Lucia is celebrating with a next-level personal challenge for which she’s trained through snowy winter runs. Why Get Out and Give Back?
“As a part of the generation sometimes written off as disengaged and technology-centered, it’s important to me to change this perception and empower others in my life to engage with the outdoors in positive ways. It’s critical to me that this work is intersectional and inclusive, that it recognizes the history of people on the land we traverse and honors the ecosystems which we call upon to find our voices and inner peace through.”
