About Lindsay Kocka

Lindsay is a yoga instructor, mountain biker, and fly angler living in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. She is passionate about the role of female mentors in empowering women of all ages in the outdoors.

150 Miles of North Shore Coastline

In October, Lindsay will embark on a 150 mile bikepacking adventure to explore Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior. Starting at the route’s northernmost point in Grand Portage, Lindsay will ride south along Highway 61 – The Lone Star Route – ending in Duluth. The route contours the scenic Lake Superior to the east and the Superior National Forest to the west. With this ride, Lindsay hopes to inspire more women to get out there and explore. Fundraising goal: $2500.

Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes, and generally considered the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area. The Ojibwe named the lake gichigami, or “great sea.” Superior National Forest is part of the greater Boundary Waters region that spans this US-Canada border in northern Minnesota.

Why Get Out and Give Back?

“I’m stoked to help other young women create skill sets and explore their passions while being supported and led by other women. I think it’s really important that we continue to move past perceived gender roles and limitations.”
