A Get Out, Give Back trail challenge supporting gender equity outdoors:

Trailtober 2025

Trailtober is your motivation to keep getting outdoors and moving your body as we enter the colder, darker fall season!

Your mission? Complete as much of your Trailtober BINGO board challenges as possible.

When you sign up, we’ll send you a BINGO board of 25 trail challenges. You’ll mark them off by running, hiking, biking, or however you love to spend time on trail.

Share your progress towards BINGO with us and on social media as you Get Out, Give Back, and you’ll be entered for chances to win prizes!

Give Back: Fundraise $100+ with Your Story

No matter how you move, your steps count toward something bigger: gender equity in outdoor adventure. What you fundraise will go directly to wilderness scholarships for girls and women.

Anybody can join Trailtober: any age, gender, or experience level is welcome. It’s a fun way to move outdoors for a cause. Invite your friends and family!

How It Works

01

Sign up by clicking the button below then “Become a Fundraiser.” Pick a fundraising goal. (There’s no minimum fundraising commitment or contract — though we suggest $310; $10 for every day in October.)

02

You’ll get an email confirming your participation, which will let you edit your personal fundraising page.

03

Every week in October, we’ll check in with trail challenge accountability, storytelling prompts, fundraising tips, and more.

04

Share why trail time is meaningful to you while you collect donations for women’s wilderness scholarships.

05

The more time on trail, the more chances to win! Keep fundraising throughout October and you could win prizes from our Trailtober partners.

Choose Your Challenge

Pick the version of Trailtober that fits your life and rhythm. You might aim to get one row of BINGO, or complete the whole board. Add challenges like:

  • Try only new-to-you trails.
  • Go tech-free on your hikes.
  • Hike with a new friend each week.
  • Combine your trail time with reflection and photo sharing.

No matter how you move, your steps count toward something bigger.

Why Join?

The Trailtober Challenge is more than a personal goal. It’s a way to Get Out to Give Back.

This is your invitation to reconnect with the outdoors, re-engage with our growing network of women and nonbinary adventurers, and raise awareness for equitable access to nature.

Your participation helps power The Cairn Project’s mission to amplify women’s stories to support gender equity in outdoor adventure.

Get Out to Give Back: The Power of Storytelling

At The Cairn Project, we believe in the power of story. When we tell our outdoor stories—especially as women and people who haven’t always seen themselves represented—we shift the narrative of who belongs in wild places.

By joining the Trailtober Challenge, you’re not only getting outside. You’re helping make the outdoors more inclusive, accessible, and reflective of all who call it home.

Why Storytelling Matters

  • Representation: Stories help expand the image of who an “outdoorsy” person can be
  • Community building: Shared experiences spark connection and solidarity
  • Inspiration: Your words can spark someone else’s first step

When you share your journey, you help us build a future where everyone belongs outdoors.
