June 100 Challenge

June is National Great Outdoors Month in the U.S., and we’re inviting you to celebrate it with a challenge that puts intention into your movement.

Whether you’re lacing up your shoes, hopping on your bike, or stepping outside to catch your breath, the June 100 Challenge is your chance to turn personal adventure into collective impact.

Choose Your Challenge

Pick the version of “100” that fits your life and rhythm:

  • 100 miles of hiking, biking, running, walking, or skiing
  • 100 kilometers of your favorite outdoor activity
  • 100 Mindful Outdoor Moments — mini walks, morning coffee on the porch, stretching in the sun, stargazing at night, whatever outdoor moments that bring you joy

No matter how you move, your steps count toward something bigger.

Why Join?

The June 100 Challenge is more than a personal goal. It’s a way to Get Out to Give Back.

This is your invitation to reconnect with the outdoors, re-engage with our growing network of women and nonbinary adventurers, and raise awareness for equitable access to nature.

Your participation helps power The Cairn Project’s mission to amplify women’s stories to support gender equity in outdoor adventure.

Make It Yours

Whether you’re just getting started or already logging big days, the June 100 Challenge is flexible by design. You can:

  • Take a few photos throughout the month and share why you’re excited to see more girls and women getting outdoors
  • Weave movement into your daily routine or launch the month with a big adventure day
  • Join the community on social media, cheer each other on, and reflect on what time outside means to you

Every moment outside is a chance to give back.

Give Back: Fundraise $100+ with Your Story

Your movement can help someone else get moving, too.

As part of the challenge, we ask each participant to raise $100 (or more) to support The Cairn Project’s work including Summit Scholarships, which support emerging leaders expanding access to the outdoors in their communities.

Your efforts help fund grants, mentorship, and programs that open the door to outdoor experiences for girls and women across the country.

Get Out to Give Back: The Power of Storytelling

At The Cairn Project, we believe in the power of story. When we tell our outdoor stories—especially as women and people who haven’t always seen themselves represented—we shift the narrative of who belongs in wild places.

By joining the June 100 Challenge, you’re not only getting outside. You’re helping make the outdoors more inclusive, accessible, and reflective of all who call it home.

Why Storytelling Matters

  • Representation: Stories help expand the image of who an “outdoorsy” person can be
  • Community building: Shared experiences spark connection and solidarity
  • Inspiration: Your words can spark someone else’s first step

When you share your journey, you help us build a future where everyone belongs outdoors.
