Emma is an outdoor educator and blogger based in Maine. After recently completing her first thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, Emma is gearing up for her next big adventure on the Pacific Crest Trail.
2,650 Miles from Mexico to Canada
In early May, Emma will head north from the Mexican border on a five month long journey hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). While on the trail, Emma plans to pay tribute to the women she meets along the trail, documenting their stories in “Women of the PCT,” a photo journal that will highlight their shared experiences. She hopes to explore how we may encourage the women in our lives to be brave, resilient, and to push the boundaries of perceived limitations. Fundraising goal: $2,500.
The Pacific Crest Trail is the second longest hiking trail in the United States, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada along the crest of the mountains in California, Oregon, and Washington. In total, the route passes through 25 different National Forests and 7 National Parks. Designated a National Scenic Trail in 1968, the trail is protected and maintained by the Pacific Crest Trail Association.
Why Get Out and Give Back?
“Spending time outdoors has led me to be more secure in my understanding of self and push the boundaries of my own perceived limitations. I am a fierce believer in women-supporting-women. We must champion and learn from the brave women in our lives so that we may all feel more brave, confident, and beautiful inside and out.”
