From first-timers to seasoned grinders of gravel, members of our Twin Cities community are setting out to ride the infamous 6K+ feet of climbing and 100 miles of the Almanzo Gravel Race in Spring Valley, Minnesota. We’re raising funds to increase participation of women in the sport of biking and to get more young women on the trails in Minnesota and beyond.
Goal: $2,500
The 2017 Almanzo gravel grinder was a true challenge. We braved the slick roads, 20 mph wind, freezing rain, and a 28 degree windchill for nearly 50 miles. Rain soaked, covered in mud, and with numb fingers and toes, we decided the safe call was to bail on the race and ride back to Spring Valley. Though we didn’t complete the entire course, we were all proud of the miles we put in preparing for the day, that we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones, and that we raised money to support The Cairn Project’s efforts to empower young women through outdoor adventure. Thank you to all who contributed to our fundraiser! Congrats to all who rode. We’ll get you next year Almanzo!
