Little Bellas is a mountain bike organization working to help young women realize their potential through cycling. Their programs support riders ages 7-17, through a crucial period in teenage years that often see a drop off in female participation in cycling. With volunteer-led chapters around the country, the Little Bellas community empowers girls through the sport, emphasizes the importance of goal-setting, promotes healthy lifestyles, and recognizes the positive effects of forging strong female bonds.Visit website
"I’m inspired by changes I see over the course of our program. From the tentative girl who comes out of her shell to the girl who didn’t think of herself as an athlete and now believes she is strong and brave, they all end up in an even better place than they started."
Support from The Cairn Project will fund additional scholarships for low-income Little Bellas participants from across the Twin Cities, filling a crucial funding gap that will expand access for the 2017 program. Little Bellas rounds up its crew of bikers every week during the season for trail rides, games that promote technical skills, nutrition education, camaraderie, and much more.
