About Nicki Klein

Nicki has made a career out of adventuring, working as a ranger in Fjordland National Park in New Zealand, as an archaeologist in Denali National Park, and on fisheries projects in the Grand Canyon. She’s currently outposting in Knoxville, TN while she awaits her next adventure.

2,650 Miles from Mexico to Canada

In late April, Nicki will set off to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), starting at the Mexican border and hiking north to Canada. Her goal is to complete the PCT solo, as a testament to the personal growth and confidence that can come from spending time alone in the backcountry. With this hike, Nicki is taking on a new personal challenge, and hoping to inspire others to explore what they are capable of. Fundraising goal: $5,300.

The Pacific Crest Trail is the second longest hiking trail in the United States, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada along the crest of the mountains in California, Oregon, and Washington. In total, the route passes through 25 different National Forests and 7 National Parks. Designated a National Scenic Trail in 1968, the trail is protected and maintained by the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

Why Get Out and Give Back?

“The lessons I’ve learned from being in the outdoors, especially on my own, have been life changing. If I can pass that on to just one other person, I’d be happy. But to pass it on to the masses, I’d be ecstatic. The first step is the most difficult – once you realize what you’re capable of, the options are endless.”
